Increase your skill and confidence with this 3-day intermediate level cruising certification course which builds on your ASA101 certification with increased knowledge and more advanced techniques, providing the essential skills you'll need to safely sail a boat of up to 40 ft in daylight hours along coastal waterways.
Structure:
24 hours of instruction over three consecutive days, returning to base each afternoon, based on a Cruising yacht up to 40’ with an in-board diesel engine. The course features lectures interspersed with on the water exercises and lots of hands-on sailing and maneuvering under both power and sail. The entire sailboat is your floating classroom for 3 days.
Typically, there are only three students per boat/instructor, but we can accommodate four if a group of friends or two couples enroll together.
The course wraps up with a 100-question multiple choice test.
We offer this as a combination liveaboard course in the US Virgin Islands.
Topics:
Boat preparation and basic boat systems, advanced sail theory and sail trim, advanced mooring/docking/anchoring techniques, safety, navigation, troubleshooting, emergencies, weather, tides, further knowledge of marine regulations and rules, and much more.
